An 85 year old Mississauga woman has ticked off another accomplishment from her bucket list, completing what some people half her age wouldn’t dream of. Lily Gallagher headed to the top of the country’s tallest structure, the CN tower, climbed onto the edge…. and walked the circumference, hands free. Donna Skelly reports.
It’s a special day at this retirement home in Mississauga. Lily Gallagher is turning 85. And the mother, grandmother and great grandmother is about to have a wish come true. “I don’t know whether it’s foolishness or courage but never the less… A friend of mine did it year’s ago and I thought, ‘oh wasn’t that nice’, and I’ve been up in the tower itself. The more I thought about it the more I thought, ‘that would be fun, I think I’d like to do that.”
This morning friends and family gathered around Lily, offering words of encouragement.
“She really wanted to do something memorable today. We lost our father last year, and I think she realized life isn’t guaranteed” says Lily’s daughter Aileen Gilbert.
