$50M winner collects prize

A Hamilton engineer who won $50 million finally has her money.

Kathryn Jones didn’t know she was a lottery winner until the OLG investigated the unclaimed prize. She had lost her ticket, and hadn’t checked the numbers.

Jones was announced as a winner last month, but had to wait 30 days in case someone else came forward to claim the money.

She has officially retired, but her husband says he may continue working part-time. She says she’d like to visit New Zealand or Australia since it was not a possibility until now; she also wants to set up a charitable foundation.
