49 cats removed from Lincoln home

Back in February 2015, the Lincoln County Humane Society executed a warrant on a Beamsville address where they removed 49 cats.

Stella Dancer, 73 and her granddaughter Heather Robertson, 31 both from Lincoln were charged with Cruelty to Animals under the Ontario SPCA Act.

On Thursday, both Dancer and Robertson pled guilty to all counts to the Cruelty to Animal charges laid against them.

The Justice of the Peace sentenced the two woman each to the following:
– $2,500 restitution to the Lincoln County Humane Society, payable over 3 years
– 10 year ban from animal ownership (once cat is permitted to be owned)
– 3 years probabtion
– A fine of $10 per count, for a total of $40

In total 63 cats were either seized or relinquished by the owners since February of 2015.
Of those cats that were seized:
– 43 were adopted
– 5 were euthanized for heath reasons, on the advice of a veterinarian
– 1 died
– 5 went to Fort Erie SPCA for adoption
– 5 went to the Guelph Humane Society for adoption
– 4 more were turned over later and adopted.
