300: Rise of an Empire

300: Rise of an Empire is a pseudo-sequel to the ground breaking 2006 film 300. Set during the same three day period as the first film, Rise of an Empire expands on the Persian invasion of Greece to include famous naval battles at Artemisium and Salamis. Reprising their roles from the first instalment are Lena Headey as the Spartan Queen Gorgo and Rodrigo Santoro as the God-King Xerxes. Australian actor Sullivan Stapleton joins the cast as the Athenian general Themistocles and Eva Green plays the Persian commander Artemisia.
The film is based on the graphic novels by Frank Miller and though Zach Snyder returns as the writer/producer, he gave up the directing chair for the sequel in order to concentrate on Man of Steel. Like it’s predecessor, 300: Rise of an Empire was filmed almost exclusively on green screen, meaning all of the water in the naval battles was created with computer graphics.
300: Rise of an Empire is rated 18A.
