2nd arrest in TD bank robbery
A second suspect has been arrested after a takeover style robbery at a TD bank in Toronto that left a teller and a customer with gunshot wounds.
Just after midnight, police arrested Lenroy Jackson, 27, from Toronto. He’s now facing nine charges, including attempted murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Police released surveillance video of the robbery at the TD Canada Trust on St Clair Avenue West on Sunday. Shortly after its release on Monday, the first suspect – 26 year old Andre Palmer from Brampton was arrested. He’s also facing a number of charges including attempted murder.
Police say they received about 50 tips after they released the footage. The Canadian Bankers Association also issued a $100,000 reward Monday for information leading to arrests. However police say it was forensic evidence collected at the scene led to Palmer’s arrest.
A 22 year old bank teller and a 54 year old customer were shot during the robbery. Police say the customer refused to get down on the floor when the suspects entered the bank and was shot in the abdomen. A bullet from this round reportedly then struck a teller in the leg. Both are said to be recovering well.
