23-year-old in critical condition after being hit by car in Hamilton

A 23-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a car while crossing Cannon St. on Friday night.

Hamilton police say the victim was walking eastbound on Cannon St. near Belview Ave. around 10 p.m. when he tried to cross the street.

A Honda CRV was traveling westbound on Cannon St. and hit the victim when he crossed in front of the vehicle.

Police say the pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, and the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
