The Niagara Humane society took 23 dogs into their care Thursday night after videos posted on social media caused outrage in the community.

Animal rights activists say the dogs were living in deplorable conditions on a property on Montrose Rd in Niagara Falls.

Executive director of the humane society, John Greer says he went to the property and asked the owner to surrender the animals, the man agreed.

For anyone looking to help the dogs, the Niagara Human society is requesting dog wipes to help clean them, as they cannot be bathed right now. For monetary donations to help with vet care, visit: nfhs.ca
