Hamilton Police say they stopped the most vehicles ever last year in RIDE checks.

Police say they stopped 238,454 vehicles; those led to 348 impaired arrests. Altogether, last year saw 837 total alcohol-related offences.

The force says increased enforcement has led to a drop in collisions from nearly 11,800 in 2003 to 8,619 last year.

The figures were released ahead of Tuesday’s meeting of the Hamilton Police Services Board.
