$2000 cable bill

A St. Catharine’s man is sounding the alarm over unfair Cogeco bills.

Ron Tremblay says he was over charged by more than $2 000 in the last two months by the cable company.

The new charges stem from over 100 movies that were purchased on pay-per-view and Cogeco-on-demand, two programs that Tremblay had requested be blocked when he signed up with the cable company 2 years ago.

“You know having a son with a mental disability this is why I had blocks put in place right from the beginning.”

Being on a fixed income, Tremblay told Cogeco that he was happy with his monthly fee of $111. So when he got a bill in October for nearly $765 he called Cogeco immediately.

“I was promised they were blocked but obviously not because the charges are still going.”

His next bill totalled more than $1 700.

“It’s very draining on customers who don’t have experience in the industry and know how to handle this stuff. ” Mohammed Halabi owns a company called “My-Bills-Are-High that helps businesses and customers deal with telecom companies like Cogeco. His biggest tip:

“Don’t hesitate to ask for a manager and don’t forget to get a callback number because with Cogeco especially they are known for their calls disconnecting magically.”

After we reached out to the cable company a manager called Tremblay back and says they will be making a full refund. We have been told that the company is now investigating why it took so many calls before this situation was escalated.
