2 suspects arrested after selling stolen instruments online in Welland

Niagara police have arrested two suspects after they were caught selling stolen musical instruments online in Welland.

On Saturday, after the complainant finished performing at a Fort Erie restaurant, they were packing their instruments and equipment, as they were briefly left unguarded, the items were stolen.

Police say the value of the stolen instruments costs around $9,000.

Over the course of the investigation detectives were able to identify two suspects. It was determined that they were selling some of the stolen equipment on Kijiji.

On Monday, officers arranged a meeting to “buy” the stolen property. Upon arrival, detectives arrested two suspects and were able to find and recover more instruments at the residence.

Jason Royce White, 36, of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Natasha Leigh Seguin, 32, of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and fail to comply probation.

White and Sequin were both held for a virtual bail hearing at the Welland Courthouse on Tuesday.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a brown suitcase covered in stickers, which has strong sentimental value to the complainant and their band.

It is believed the suspects left the suitcase in Maple Park, in the area of Clare Ave. near Thorold Rd, in Welland between Saturday and Monday.

Police say they searched the park and were unable to find the suitcase.
