2 shot, killed at Virginia Tech

Police officer among those killed on campus.
Officials at Virginia Tech, the site of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, say a police officer and another person have been shot and killed on the school’s campus.
The gunman is believed to be dead.
A news release from the school says the police officer had pulled someone over in what was a routine traffic stop.
The officer was shot and killed during the traffic stop.
Witnesses told police the shooter ran toward a parking lot on campus.
A second person was found dead in that parking lot.
The shooting triggered a lockdown on the sprawling campus that in 2007 was the scene of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, when 32 were killed before the gunman took his own life.
