(Updated) North Service Rd near the QEW and Fifty Road in Stoney Creek has re-opened after an overnight crash that sent two people to hospital with serious injuries.

Paramedics say a man was driving a woman with chest pains to hospital about 12:30 this morning when the car crashed into a ditch. Paramedics and firefighters had a tough time getting them out because the vehicle was in water.

Both were transported to hospital with life threatening injuries but are now in stable condition.

Police say alcohol was not a factor.
