A 25-year-old Hamilton man is in hospital after being involved in two overnight crashes in the city.

Officers were called to a collision on Gage Ave. North at Dunsmure Rd. around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

They say a 50-year-old man driving a Pontiac Sunfire attempted to turn left on Dunsmure Rd. when a Yamaha Motorcycle, being driven by a 25-year-old man, tried to pass on the left side.

“The motorcycle came into contact with the Pontiac Sunfire,” said Hamilton police in a news release. “The motorcycle driver lost control, sliding nearly 40 meters on the bikes’ side along Gage Avenue.”

Police say the motorcyclist got up and fled the scene – leaving his helmet behind. The other driver did not suffer any injuries.
