In just a matter of hours the first 160 Syrian refugees will arrive at Pearson International Airport and Prime Minister Trudeau is expected to be there to greet them.

Two families of privately sponsored Syrian refugees touched down at Pearson Airport Thursday night. They were greeted by their sponsors who held welcome signs.

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne will join Prime Minister Justin Trudeau this evening at Pearson International Airport to welcome the first plane load of Syrian refugees arriving in Canada . Wynne says she is confident that all levels of government, social agencies, churches and private sponsors will be able to properly re-settle the expected 25, 000 new Canadians by the end of February.

Wynne says that wherever she goes across the province people are approaching her to offer with fund raising, education, volunteering, and efforts to help welcome and re-settle the refugees.
