Halton police make arrests in Tim Hortons fire

Halton police have arrested two men in connection to a fire that caused more than $600,000 in damage to a Burlington Tim Hortons.
Crews were called to the location at 601 Brant St. shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 25.
Firefighters managed to knock down the blaze but not before it caused extensive damage to the outside of the building and smoke damage to the inside.
Police say someone was caught on camera tampering with a garbage and a few minutes later, a large plume of smoke could be seen coming out of the same garbage bin. The fire continued to burn until a passerby noticed and called 911.
Investigators say one of the men who was arrested has been released after it was determined that he was not involved in setting the fire.
The other man, 33-year-old Travis Donald Peddle, has been charged with arson and fail to comply with probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 7.
