Hamilton restaurant owner fined $10,000 for fire code violations

The owner of a local Hamilton restaurant has been fined $10,000 for multiple fire code violations.

Hamilton Fire Department says the registered owner of Rannush Grill at 578-580 Concession St. pleaded guilty to three violations which included failure to check, inspect and test the commercial cooking equipment suppression system every six months, failure to check, inspect and test emergency lighting equipment and failure to keep all written test records for two years at the building.

“Building owners must take responsibility to ensure their buildings are in full compliance with the Ontario Fire Code and failure to do so will result in prosecution,” Robert Simpson, Hamilton’s Chief Fire Prevention Officer.
