Thanks to a generous donation from a Niagara hotel group, Syrian refugees coming to the Niagara area will get furniture to help them settle in as they begin their new lives in Canada. The donation was so big that the Pen Centre donated more than 10 000 square feet of space to store the furniture.
Over 200 Syrian refugees who arrived in the past couple months call Niagara home, with another 150 expected by the end of the year. Furniture from 650 hotel rooms were donated, more than enough for Niagara’s needs.
The Niagara furniture bank says it is in need of some heavy lifting and is looking for volunteers to help move furniture from the hotels to the Pen Centre.
