This Remembrance Day will mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the first World War.

Over 60 000 Canadians were killed during the war and more than 170 000 were injured.

On Remembrance Day afternoon you’ll hear 100 ringing bells, 1 every 5 seconds.

“It’s to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the first World War on November 11th 1918. Bells spontaneously rang across the country to commemorate peace.” Father David Wynen.

At Christ the King Cathedral, the bells will begin to toll at around 5 o’clock.

Churches across the country have been asked by the Royal Canadian Legion to take part in their “bells of peace” initiative.
