The one year old girl who was pulled from her mother’s vehicle after a violent crash south of Caledonia last week has died.
Everleigh Grace Haworth Battice celebrated her first birthday just two weeks ago. She had been at McMaster Children’s Hospital since Tuesday with irreversible brain damage.
Her mother, Heather Haworth, wasn’t seriously hurt in the crash after losing control of her vehicle and rolling into a ditch before hitting a pole. She released a statement to CHCH news saying, “Losing a child is a tremendous tragedy. Making the decision to let one go is even worse. After all of Everleigh’s fighting and struggling in the past few days, she let us know her time has come. As heartbreaking as this decision was, this is the choice Everleigh helped us make.”
Everleigh died at exactly midnight on Monday December 7th. Her family thanked the nurses and doctors at McMaster Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald house. Her grandmother is encouraging anyone who can to donate to Ronald McDonald house in honour of Everleigh.
