2 arrested, 1 wanted in murder of man found on side of Port Colborne road

Two people have been charged with one wanted for first-degree murder in the death of a homeless man in Port Colborne last summer.
Niagara police say the body of 38-year-old Daniel Sanvido was found on Aug. 24, 2024 in a grassy area near Forkes Road and Highway 140.
Following months of investigation, homicide detectives arrested 36-year-old Jade Hayward of St. Catharines Thursday.
Hayward was charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators have also identified two additional men wanted in connection with the murder of Sanvido.
Police say they arrested 47-year-old Jacob Cudney Saturday, and have charged him with first-degree murder.
Cudney is being held in custody pending a bail hearing later that same Saturday at a St. Catharines courthouse.
Officers say they are now looking for Richard Stevens, another 47-year-old and from Niagara Falls, also wanted for first-degree murder.
“Stevens is encouraged to contact legal counsel and make arrangements to surrender themselves into police custody,” the service wrote in a press release Saturday.
Police are urging the public to not approach Stevens if they are seen as they are considered to be armed and dangerous. Rather, they are asked to call 911 immediately.
