CHCH honours WWII pilot George Stewart who died at 100

First Published:

George Stewart served Canada as a pilot in the Second World War, flying the British twin-engine de Havilland Mosquito aircraft.

In his later years, he often joined CHCH News to share with us the experiences and lessons that saved his life throughout the war.

Stewart not only shared his story but also played a pivotal role in our Remembrance Day coverage that left a lasting impact on our audience.

On Sunday, Stewart passed away at the age of 100.

His son Peter Stewart said that he maintained a great mental attitude and regaled the staff, or anyone who would listen, during his stay at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton — sharing his tales from his time in the Second World War and of the fifty trips he made over Germany during that time.
