Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is expected to be visiting Hamilton on Wednesday for the sixth stop on an eight-city post-budget tour.

Singh will tour the Hamilton dental bus first at 11:15 a.m., and then join reporters outside the Neighbour to Neighbour Centre at 28 Athens St. to elaborate on how the NDP is delivering dental care for low-income Canadians.

On the tour, Singh will “talk to Canadians about how the NDP delivered results that put money back in their pockets”, following the release of the federal budget last month.

The budget included a plan that will expand eligibility to uninsured Canadians under 18, senior citizens, as well as people with disabilities with an annual family income of less than $90,000 a year.

The NDP points to the new dental care program as a victory for the party.

“For too long, seniors and families had to continue to live in pain because they couldn’t afford to go to the dentist,” Singh said.

“This is a difficult time for Canadians all over the country with the rising cost of everything. That is why we fought for a budget that will save you money.”

Singh will remain in Hamilton this afternoon to visit the Sackville Hill Seniors Recreation Centre, located at 780 Upper Wentworth Street, and participate in activities with seniors.
