The government has announced it will pull Canada’s diplomats’ children and their guardians out of Israel, amid fears of an expansion of conflict.
Global Affairs Canada says it has approved the temporary relocation to a safe third country.
Diplomats stationed in nearby Ramallah in the West Bank and in Beirut, Lebanon, do not have dependents living with them.
The government has warned Canadians to avoid all travel to Israel because of the ongoing conflict and its “unpredictable situation.”
Canadians are also advised not to travel to the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem or Lebanon.

This comes after G7 foreign ministers released a statement over the weekend, once again reiterating the need for a de-escalation in violence.
“We…express our deep concern at the heightened level of tension in the Middle East, which threatens to ignite a broader conflict in the region,” the statement read.
“We urge all involved parties once again to refrain from perpetuating the current destructive cycle of retaliatory violence, to lower tensions and engage constructively toward de-escalation. No country or nation stands to gain from a further escalation in the Middle East.”
