Police have released shocking video of a man being dragged by a car after an altercation in a Hamilton parking lot last month.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. at the Mountain Plaza Mall on Upper James St. on June 6.

Investigators say a dispute broke out between a 64-year-old driver and another man in the lot regarding which vehicle had the right of way.

The video appears to show a sedan reversing out of a parking spot while a gold-coloured vehicle attempts to exit the lot at the same time. A man can be seen getting out of the sedan and walking over to the driver’s side door of the other vehicle.

Police say the man assaulted the 64-year-old driver, causing “significant facial injuries.” The suspect then quickly fled back to the sedan, which was being driven by a female.

Several bystanders came to the driver’s aide and one person attempted to stop the car as it tried to leave the scene. “While attempting to flee, the female driver struck the bystander, rolling him onto the hood of the car and carrying him through the parking lot, before he fell to the ground,” said Hamilton police in a news release. “The occupants of the vehicle did not stop and render assistance to the bystander.”

The car was last seen quickly leaving the mall parking lot.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects and the vehicle involved in the incident.

The man is described as roughly 25 years old, about five-foot-ten, with a thin to medium build and short brown hair. The female driver is described as being in her mid-twenties with blonde hair. They were driving in a silver, four-door car.
