Burlington to close stretch of Lakeshore Rd. for several months

Residents in Burlington will be forced to change their travel routes as the city is planning to close a long stretch of Lakeshore Rd. for at least five months.
Starting July 4, Lakeshore Rd. will be closed between Guelph and Walkers lines for the replacement of Pine Cove bridge until December.
“This bridge needs to be replaced as soon as possible. It is showing signs of aging and we need to ensure it is replaced for public safety,” said Jeff Thompson, senior project manager.

The city says local access will be maintained but detours will be in place around the bridge construction.
This project also includes road resurfacing, multi-use pathway replacement, Tuck Creek culvert repairs, street lighting upgrades and sidewalk and curb repairs.
“We acknowledge the disruption this will cause but we are working as fast as possible. We thank the community for their patience as we work to improve your neighbourhood,” said Thompson.
