Burlington flood info available this weekend

First Published:

Burlington residents affected by the recent flooding and those looking to help can get information at various locations in the city this weekend.

Families reported losing clothing, furnaces, furniture and other household items in the floods.

Burlington city council has approved a direction to Halton Region to give immediate help to homes flooded more than once. City council has also voted to ask the province for assistance.

Members of city council will be available at the Fit in the Core pilates class from 10 to 11 tomorrow morning in front of city hall. They’ll also be at the Saturdays in the Street event on Elgin St from 3 to 5:30 p-m.

Residents can also attend the Children’s Festival for information. Council members will be on hand from 10 to 6 at Beachway Park tomorrow, and Spencer Smith Park on Sunday.

The city is also warning of a pair of men wearing red t-shirts going door-to-door, posing as fundraisers for the Red Cross.

They’re not.

Halton Police and the Red Cross are both aware of the situation.
