Brock University works with Ontario wineries in support of industry research

Ontario wineries are working hand in hand with Brock University and its’ wine research, the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute.

The wine cellar in the basement of Brock University has over 44,000 bottles of wine. Some that students make in their undergrad program, commercial wines, donated collectible wines, and research wines made in Brock’s research programs.

At the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute they test wine, check for viruses and take a closer look at Ontario grapes. Specifically, the tannin levels in red grapes which can affect the taste of wine.

The institute works with over 100 wineries and grape growers in Ontario. The main goal of the institute is to support the industry with research, education, and outreach.

Graduates from the institution at Brock University end up getting jobs at wineries all over the world.
