Brantford police team up with local ice cream shop to reward youth

Brantford police are teaming up with a local ice cream shop this summer to reward youth who are caught in the act of a good deed.
The Brantford Police Service (BPS) is joining forces with Dairee Delite, located at 10 King George Rd., to launch “Operation Delite”, a project meant to reinforce positive behaviour in youth in the community.
This summer, police officers will hand out coupons to youth who are seen doing good deeds. The coupons can be redeemed exclusively at Dairee Delite for a free ice cream or yogurt cone.

Examples of good deeds include demonstrating community pride, helping a friend or participating in community activities.
Officers will also recognize when youth are practicing personal safety such as wearing bicycle helmets and observing road crossing rules.
“This program is a great way to foster a sense of community and build relationships with our youngest citizens,” BPS Corporate Communications Manager Robin Matthews-Osmond said.

Dairee Delite first opened its doors in Brantford in 1953 and is launching “Operation Delite” to celebrate their 70th anniversary this year.
“Dariee Delite is thrilled to partner with the Brantford Police Service to help support the community who supports us,” the owner of Dairee Delite, Sarah Disher-Neddow said.
Police say “Operation Delite” will run all summer long.
