Brantford police arrest 15-year-old after weapons threat in school

Brantford police have arrested a 15-year-old teenager after a school was placed into lockdown due to a weapons threat.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, officers received information that a youth was in possession of a knife inside Pauline Johnson Collegiate & Vocational School.

Police say the accused was brandishing the weapon in a threatening manner and the school was placed into lockdown.

Officers quickly found the teen, who was taken into custody.

Investigators say no physical injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

As a result, a 15-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

As the accused is under the age of 18, additional information will not be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
