Barrier installation on Burgoyne Bridge in St. Catharines

Construction crews continue to add safety barriers to Burgoyne Bridge in St. Catharines.

The work was supposed to be completed in the spring but construction was delayed because of COVID-19.

The project got the go-ahead from city council in 2019, after several suicides and suicide attempts.

Crews have spent weeks putting up picket barriers along the bridge.

Installation of stainless steel netting began last week.

There is still a few weeks of work left.

Construction means only one side of the bridge is being used at a time, but traffic is being allowed both ways.
