Barrie police release high-risk offender with ties to Hamilton

Barrie police have issued a community safety advisory regarding a high-risk offender living in the city and known to frequent the Hamilton area.

Officers say 30-year-old Tony Gordon served his latest sentence and has been released from custody.

Police say his past convictions include break and enter, trespassing or prowl at night to sexual assault, and assault by choking, suffocation or strangulation.

Hamilton police confirm Gordon has been arrested for offences in the city.

Current terms of his release include the following:

  • Not attending a park, public swimming area, daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre where people under the age of 16 are present or can reasonably be expected to be present
  • Having any contact – including communicating by any means, with a person who is under the age of 16, unless under the supervision of a person whom the court considers appropriate
  • Not seeking or obtaining any employment or volunteer position in a capacity that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards a person under the age of 16
  • Not possess any weapon or anything designed to be used to cause death or injury or to threaten or intimidate any person

Members of the public who see Gordon violating any of the terms of his release are told to call 911 instead of approaching him.
