‘Avoid Trafalgar Road at Highway 401’: Trailer rollover spills garbage across roadway

First Published:

Traffic will be a mess this afternoon while crews work to clean up a dumped load of garbage that spilled in Oakville after a tractor-trailer rolled over near the 401.

No one was injured.

Halton police took to social media to share the information around 11:30 a.m. Friday.

In their post, they said that a “trailer loaded with household garbage has partially dumped its load.”

Authorities have closed the westbound and eastbound 401 off-ramps at Trafalgar, and Trafalgar Road southbound is closed at Steeles Avenue. The northbound lanes remain unaffected.

The department says it will take anywhere from four to six hours to clear.

“Avoid the area of Trafalgar Road at Highway 401,” police said on social media. “Multiple lane closures for the next several hours while crews clean up a spilled load of garbage and right a semi tractor trailer.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
