Another encampment fire in Hamilton

There was another encampment fire in Hamilton — this time in the Kenilworth Access and Lawrence Road area on Tuesday.

Hamilton fire says crews responded to a wooded area nearby and found a pile of material on fire. Police were already on-scene.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and then checked the area for anyone present. No one was found at the location.

The scene was left with police to investigate.

Hamilton’s homelessness and encampment strategy is back on the City Hall agenda.

On Wednesday morning a general issues committee meeting will be discussing the logistics behind the latest plan for additional homeless shelters in the city.
