Animal Welfare Services seized abused dog from Dundas resident

Hamilton police and the province’s Animal Welfare authority say they’ve taken action in a case that shocked many people in the city.
It involved a video taken just over a week ago of a man dragging a dog down a sidewalk, horrifying witnesses.
The Provincial Animal Welfare Services now says they’ve executed a warrant with police.
They have seized the dog, and it’s being evaluated by a veterinarian. They say no charges have been laid, but the investigation is ongoing.
The penalty for causing distress to an animal is a maximum fine of up to $130,000 or 2 years in prison, or both. But there’s no minimum.
While the dog is being evaluated by a vet, we don’t have any word on its condition.
