A look at 3 Expedia travel trends for 2024

First Published:

As we wrap up 2023, there is no better time to start thinking about where travel will take you in 2024. Heather Greenwood Davis shared three travel trends on Expedia’s Unpack ’24 list of travel predictions.

Trend 1: Set-Jetting

This trend is seeing people visit places they see in movies and television shows. People are travelling to places like Italy thanks to ‘The White Lotus’, Paris because of ‘Emily in Paris’, Norway thanks to ‘Succession’ and a lot of other places.

Trend 2: Dry-Tripping

With more and more people trying to limit alcohol, people are booking detox-trips and trips at places that offer mocktail-making experiences and mini-bars with zero-proof options. A few places to check out if you are sober-curious are- The Merrion Hotel in Ireland, Revival Baltimore, Ette Hotel in Orlando and The Burrard in Vancouver.

Trend 3: Destination Dupes

If there have been places on your bucket list that are just a little too costly, Expedia has great dupes that are more affordable but just as enjoyable. If you have always wanted to see Seoul go to Taipei instead. Always wanted to see Bangkok? Visit Pattaya. Instead of Santorini, book a trip to Paros. Curaçao is a great dupe for St. Martin. And if you have always wanted to see Sydney, Australia but know it’s not in the budget, book a trip to Perth.
