Hamilton mother charged after house fire

Hamilton Police have arrested and charged the mother of the 15-month-old boy who was left alone in a house that caught fire last week.

Last week police responded to a fire on Bay Street North and found the boy in a bedroom near the front of the home. The 15-month-old was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.

The boy has since been placed in the care of the Children’s Aid Society and the 25-year-old Hamilton mother has been charged with abandoning a child.
