Dangerous day on the roads

Friday started with a deadly crash on the 403 — and ended with a head on collision in the east end. It was a dangerous day on the roads in and around Hamilton.
Congestion. Closures. And chaos. Those were the conditions on Hamilton roads.
Just after 7 o’clock, police were called to Mountain Brow near Limeridge Road East after reports of a head on collision. One man was arrested for impaired driving, while another man was treated for minor injuries.
And a 32-year-old man was taken to hospital after being hit by a car just after 6 o’clock. The victim was unconscious when paramedics arrived. Police closed off the intersection while officers continued there investigation. The female driver was also looked at by paramedics after going into shock.
Just before the rush hour began. Motorists on Centennial Parkway were at a stand still after a van slammed into a hydro pole knocking it down. Hydro crews showed up on the scene along with police. The scene was cleared just before six o’clock.
And all lanes on the 403 were closed for much of the day after a fatal car crash. The accident happened around 10 in the morning. A 59-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene after her pickup truck rear ended a tractor trailer. In this particular accident, drivers of both the pickup and semi were not hurt. The male pickup driver however was taken in for questioning. Police say the investigation is ongoing and there is no word yet one whether any charges will be laid.
