Fatal crash on Mohawk

A man is dead after crashing his minivan on the mountain tonight.

The man was driving westbound on Mohawk just before 5:30 p.m. when he struck a hydro pole. Police say the impact broke it in half.

The man was pronounced dead in hospital. His name and age have not been released.

Crash reconstruction investigators are on scene. Horizon Utilities is also there making repairs.

The stretch of Mohawk between West 5th and Neyer Road remains closed east- and westbound. Police expect the eastbound portion to reopen tonight. Westbound will likely remain closed Monday morning.
