Hamilton Police officer slashed

A Hamilton Police officer was injured in an altercation in the city’s west end.

The constable was responding to a call on Aberdeen Avenue around one o’clock this morning, and was injured when he was allegedly cut with a sharp object during an altercation with a teenage girl, who is believed to have been suffering mental distress.

The officer was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he was treated for a sprained ankle and released. The girl was taken to McMaster Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
