More arrests in Tyler Johnson murder

(Updated)
Hamilton police have arrested and charged four more people in connection to the shooting death of Tyler Johnson late last year. The 30-year old was killed last November outside Vida La Pita. Hamilton police raided two homes Friday afternoon — and have charged two men and two women with murder related charges.
Dozens of Hamilton police officers, some armed with guns, searched 124 and 122 Cathcart Street near Cannon in Hamilton early in the afternoon.
A few hours after police arrived, bags of evidence were removed from 124 Cathcart. But earlier, neighbour Daniel Staats who lives at 122 says a man police were looking for went hiding in his family’s house. “Apparently he entered the house with no one there so they went in to our residence and that’s where he was found. As far as I know they have him in custody.”
Police arrested 25-year old Joshua Barreira and 34-year old Chad Davidson, both Hamilton residents. They’ve been charged with first degree murder.
Jennifer Rivas is a neighbour: “Well, it bothers me. I have a 15 year old daughter and I want to get her out of this neighbourhood.”
Last December, 19-year old Brandon Barreira was arrested in Cambridge and charged with first degree murder as well in connection to the shooting death of Tyler Johnson. Johnson was shot in front of Vida La Pita on King Street West at the end of November.
Laura Crane is a neighbour: “It’s been creepy down here there’s always people out watching and smoking. I just walk on the other side of the street and ignore them.”
Neighbours say Joshua lived at 124 Cathcart. Two large dogs were removed from his home before police removed bags of evidence.
This isn’t the first time 25-year old Joshua Barreira’s been in trouble with the law. 22-year old Michael Walsh was shot dead in a Waterdown apartment eight years ago. Joshua was charged two years later with conspiracy to commit murder.
Two women were also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact. All four are being held at Hamilton’s Central Police Headquarters and will appear by video for their first court appearance Saturday. The suspects will likely be remanded until Tuesday.
