Hudak takes aim at Working Families Coalition

Straight out of last night’s win, PC leader Tim Hudak wasted no time attacking big labour and in particular the Working Families Coalition which spent millions of dollars fighting his party’s platform. Hudak says big labour is running the government and uses all its resources to buy seats.

“This is all about the union elite who are running the show and they don’t discriminate between whether it’s a Liberal vote or a NDP vote, they want those members in their back pockets and that’s where they are today.”

“Give me a level playing field in Niagara Falls, we win that seat. It’s a PC seat but when you give that oversized influence to big labour they buy influence with numbers.”

Hudak added he is thrilled with how his party fared in yesterday’s byelections, saying not only did they keep their seat in Thornhill but they increased their vote count in both ridings.

The results of the two byelections mean little change in the makeup of the Ontario legislature.

After losing the Niagara Falls seat, the minority Liberal government will have 49 seats. The Progressive Conservatives maintain their 37 seats, and the NDP’s gain in Niagara Falls gives it 21 seats.
