Layoffs at U.S. Steel

There’s word that about 175 non-union workers are facing layoffs at U.S. Steel in Hamilton and Lake Erie. The company is reportedly making the move to try and control costs. U.S. Steel did post a big fourth quarter loss last week of $122 million dollars. Last year the company announced it was permanently shutting down steelmaking operations in Hamilton.
