Quick work snuffs out garbage truck fire

Tankers had to be called in to help firefighters extinguish a blaze that erupted inside a garbage truck in Milton Thursday night.

Crews were called to Tremaine Road north of Burnhamthorpe Road where the cab of a Miller garbage truck was ablaze. Firefighters managed to stop the flames from reaching the back compartment area.

Crews from Milton, Burlington and Oakville were all called to work on this fire. An investigation is ongoing and there’s still no word on a cause.

The cab was destroyed.
