QEW reopens after fatal crash

(Updated) Ontario’s Special investigations Unit is looking into a fatal crash early this morning on the Niagara-bound QEW between Walkers Line and Guelph Line. A 36-year old man was killed after his Toyota Matrix collided with a tractor trailer around 2:30 am.

The westbound lanes of the QEW reopened just before 9 this morning.

The SIU is investigating because Provincial Police were already on the scene, directing traffic on the highway because of construction in the area.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call 416-622-1935.

The SIU is called in on cases involving police when there is death, injury or sexual assault.

The victim has not been identified.
