No flood warnings for Niagara/Grand Erie yet

The Grand River Conservation Authority and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority have no flood warnings at this time. But both are monitoring the situation. This was the scene at the Niagara River Friday afternoon. Officials are saying it’s a good idea to stay clear of rivers and streams.
There are ice breakers further down the river trying to break up the ice to prevent any jams and flooding. But most of the ice is on the American side. Earlier this week, strong winds pushed the ice towards the U.S. and there was some flooding on Grand Island. Crews are expected to work through the weekend and a Canadian ice breaker is helping out.
