Hamilton police say 32 year old Sara Lucas allegedly faked having cancer and is now facing serious charges tonight.

Lucas is facing charges of fraud over $5000, identity fraud and using forged documents. Police allege that Sarah Lucas submitted more than $200,000 worth of false claims to the Ontario Disability Support Program.

The alleged cancer fraud started in 2013, it wasn’t until this August that police were contacted after an anonymous tip.

According to police, Lucas lives in Hamilton, but used a Toronto area hotel and a Toronto doctor in the elaborate scheme. Investigators say she forged medical documents.
