The Paris to Ancaster bike race is adding a new rider and community partner.
St Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation is hopping on as the race’s first official charity partner. The ride started 23 years ago, and will now have a ride for research theme in support of St Joe’s.
CEO of the St Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, Sera Filice-Armenio, outlined the group’s goal. “In our first year as charity partner for this exciting community event, St Joe’s is looking to raise $125K, so you can rest assured that when you ride, every puddle you jump, and each field you cross, will be fostering hope, healing and discovery.”
Race director John Thorpe is promising changes. “It’s gonna be a point-to-point 20 km family fun ride. It’s been designed to be something that’s all-inclusive for everyone, so to that end we’ve left out a couple of the sketchy sections, mudslides, that kind of thing.”
Registration is now open for this April’s race. There’s a 70, 40 and 20 kilometre ride, in addition to the new family ride.
More than 2300 riders came out last spring.
