Blustery Friday the 13th

A wet and windy Friday the 13th is in store for any bikers headed to Port Dover today.

While the winds shouldn’t be quite as strong as they were yesterday afternoon when waves were being driven well onto the shore of Lake Erie, it’s not been a great year for biking enthusiasts to participate in the traditional event.

Between 150 and 200 bikes were in town for the last Friday the 13th in March, when despite the sun, temperatures were also in the single digits with some snow still on the ground.  The Friday the 13th before that was in the deep freeze of February.

While the imported palm trees on the Port Dover beach are still doing their best to remind visitors of more tropical conditions today, most biking enthusiasts may just decide to leave their rides at home.

The only Friday the 13th next year comes in May.
