The incumbent Conservative candidate in Oakville is in the headlines tonight, but he’s hard to track down. Terence Young is warning voters that if the Liberals are elected they will open brothels and marijuana shops in our communities. His comments surfaced after a local candidates debate last week. Brittany Gogo has been getting some reaction today.

The clip of Young’s debate comments surfaced yesterday and is quickly going viral. He asked voters if they wanted “communities where a liberal government mandates legally-protected brothels”. The conservative party has also taken out a series of ads with a similar message.
Oakville Conservative candidate Terence Young is warning voters, communities like this face a future of brothels and marijuana shops if the Liberals are elected. “…or communities where a federal Liberal government mandates legally protected brothels with madams and all that goes with that. Because the Liberals have promised to legalize the selling of women in Canada.”

Young, who has represented Oakville in Ottawa since 2008, made the comments during an all candidates debate. But getting Young on the record again hasn’t been easy. We stopped by his campaign office, but were told to wait for the campaign manager to come back before any comments were given. We waited, but eventually told he wouldn’t be coming back.

The Conservatives are also running ads with a similar theme in ethnic newspapers, something Stephen Harper defends. “The other guys will claim it’s fear, but we’re trying to draw attention to facts, facts that they’re not willing to talk about.”

But Justin Trudeau says the claims are baseless. “He never misses an opportunity to divide, to play up fear and division and even to directly mislead Canadians. Canadians are tired of that.”

The Liberals have said they support the legalization of marijuana but have not said they would legalize prostitution.

Terence Young’s campaign manager did call back late this afternoon to say that they would not be making any comment.
