With two tentative agreements with teachers,  the labour situation appears more stable than it was when the summer break began, but it won’t be entirely problem-free with work-to-rule campaigns and disagreements over the new sex-education curriculum.

Over the summer, the Liberal government was able to negotiate contracts with high school teachers and English catholic teachers, however deals with publc elementary teachers, French teachers and education workers are still outstanding.

Elementary teachers will be working-to-rule, meaning they won’t hold parent/teacher meetings, work through lunches or plan field trips or fundraising activities.

There are hopes that five bargaining sessions over the next two weeks could lead to a deal.
